
I was thinking back to September 4, 1984, when I first started in this business. Back then, the advice was always the same: "Grind harder, use these scripts, and fake it until you make it." I’ve seen so many talented people—good agents with huge hearts—burn out because they were exhausted from pretending to be someone they weren’t.
It reminds me of a maple tree I once had on my deck. For years, it looked beautiful on the outside, but underneath, its roots were struggling and causing damage because it was in the wrong environment. Sometimes, we do the same thing in our careers. We try to grow in a way that doesn't fit our natural "DNA," and eventually, our "not-so-young-anymore" bodies and minds start to scream out in revolt.
I’ve found that focusing on your innate strengths leads to much better results than trying to fix your "weaknesses". My main focus during my years as a managing broker and broker owner was always on how we could build a system where our agents could thrive. One were we could focus on integrity and your unique personality and strengths.
That’s why I’m opening the Real Estate DNA Collective.
